Ratan Tata's Unique Arrival in Indore in 1995: A Gift to an Employee That Became a Lifelong Memory

Even though the renowned businessman Ratan Tata is no longer with us, his legacy lives on in the hearts of the Sanghi Motors employees in Indore. Tata's humble and friendly manner left a lasting effect on those who saw him in 1995. Tata politely signed a piece of tissue paper and spoke to the employee, putting his hand on his shoulder, when he asked for his autograph.

He went to the Tata Export Company in Dewas at that time, where Sanghi Motors was promoting a well-known showroom and service facility in the Lasudiya region. Tata spent fifteen minutes examining the showroom with great attention. He even organised a casual get-together to celebrate the contributions of four staff members, including showroom general manager Narayan Sumrani, who had worked there for more than 25 years.
In an iconic moment, Tata signed the certificates idly with a personal remark after realising his signature was missing. When a younger worker asked for his autograph, Tata genuinely showed interest in the team's work by conversing with him about sales after signing a tissue. His visit demonstrated not just the oversight of a leader but also the astute observation of an architect, as he asked about every aspect of the showroom's design, from the lift's capacity to the interior design, all while praising the team's work.
